I REMEMBER A STORY by Judy Rose
The art of storytelling seems to be something from the past. With the amount of video games, television shows, and computer games, children are missing out on a valuable resource – the gift of a story – told by an actual storyteller. Sure, as parents, we read stories to our children at bedtime, and usually from a book or series of books.
Here is something totally new for kids – Real Storytelling. This is not another audio book read by a narrator. I Remember A Story is a collection of stories for the children of today. The stories are told from the imagination of a great storyteller. Gordon Michael tells stories that are descriptive, imaginative, adventurous and sprinkled with a bit of excitement for the listener. Each CD has 2 hours 25 minutes of pure storytelling that will surely captivate your child!
Gordon has brought back the art of storytelling. He creates each story and has a way of making a person think they are talking to them. Kids and parents will enjoy listening to the wonderful stories Gordon tells.

The Eating Game
I used The Eating Game for children ages 4 – 8. I had the children make their own choices and then another group of children had to make only healthy choices. The children who were able to choose what they wanted were able to pick some healthy food, but the pizza for breakfast seemed like a good idea. The children who had to pick
healthy choices did really well at putting appropriate foods at the right time of day, i.e., spaghetti for supper and not breakfast. It was great watching them make their own choices and nice to see that at the age of 4 and 5, they are not making terrible choices.
This game makes it easy for children to choose what they want to eat, thereby putting them in charge of their own eating. When children think they are making the choices, chances are they will be willing to eat if they feel they are in charge.

GROSS-ABULARY by Judy Rose
“Boogers, Farts and Body Parts”
Educators know that children are fascinated with language and love to experiment with new words. Learning can be pretty boring for some kids. However, a father has found a unique way to help his children with basic sentence structure and sight words and have fun while doing it.
Gross-Abulary, a new word trivia game, is poised to help kids expand their vocabulary with its brightly coloured cards, resembling flash cards, and assortment of words. Some of the words are “gross”, which makes it fun for kids to compose sentences. The game comes with
192 Picture Cards (Trivia questions on back)
200 Word Cards
40 Suffix Cards
10 blanks
1, three minute timer
1 Sight Word Card Reference Tool.
Players have to race against the timer to create the longest sentence. The word wizard (a player) decides who the winner of the round is. The winner gets to answer a trivia question and tell a joke. Our testers especially enjoyed the trivia part of the game. They not only were having fun, but they were learning some interesting facts!
When trivia is included, children become more interested. Our testers, age 11 years, have been enjoying playing this game since it was introduced to them. They play it most nights and have re-discovered the fun of playing a board game. When the picture and word cards are combined together, they create some pretty interesting phrases. This is what makes the game fun to play. A fun, must-have game to include on your Christmas list!

Kid Companion’s Chewelry by Jean Nicol
“Professionals and parents are recognizing that when young children have
poor sensory processing abilities, it can affect social, cognitive, and sensorimotor development.” Ayres AJ. Sensory Integration and Praxis Tests
Manual. Los Angeles: Western Psychological Services;1989.
With an oral motor hyposensitivity a child may need to chew frequently for the sensory input. The sensory input they receive from chewing may have a calming effect in situations where they are overstimulated. Some children who have difficulty listening or focusing on a task may be successful if giving something to chew or something to use as a fidget.
Pierrette d’Entremont, a mom from West Pubnico, Nova Scotia recognized the need for a safe, discreet, attractive sensory tool for children who needed to chew. She invented Kid Companions Chewelry, a safe and very fashionable product being enjoyed by young children, tweens and teens. They meet North American Safety Standards, are available in a variety of heart shaped colors and circle shapes. Children are wearing them as a pendant making it readily available for chewing. Clipped inside a pocket Kid Companions make an awesome fidget.
